Do I own my work?+
Yes — completely. You retain full ownership of your characters, worlds, art and writing. BlackVeil only receives a license to publish what you upload, for as long as you choose to keep it on the platform. If you ever leave, your work and your audience go with you.
Can I publish my work elsewhere?+
Yes. There is no mandatory exclusivity. We ask founding creators for a short head-start on BlackVeil for brand-new chapters so we can present them with editorial weight, but you are always free to publish the same work on your own site, in print, or on other platforms.
Can I use AI-assisted workflows?+
Yes. BlackVeil welcomes hand-drawn, painted, photographed, 3D-rendered, mixed-media and AI-assisted storytelling. All work must be original, legally publishable and properly attributed where required. Readers will always be able to see how a story was created through clear, creator-selected content tags. We believe great stories come from creators — not from any one tool.
What genres are allowed?+
Almost anything visual and long-form: fantasy, sci-fi, horror, romance, mystery, thriller, historical, action, slice-of-life and more. Mature stories are welcome — readers opt in to mature content with a clearly-labelled toggle. The only work we turn away is anything illegal, hateful, or that infringes another creator's rights.
How do payments work?+
Readers unlock chapters using credits. Each unlock pays the creator a share of the credit value, calculated transparently and reported on your dashboard in real time. Founding creators receive an elevated share during the launch period. Payouts are issued monthly with a full statement — no hidden fees, no surprise deductions.
Do I need a finished story to apply?+
No. We want to see your world, your characters and a sample of your art. A clear pitch and a few finished pages is plenty.
